Recipe – Farvada Brewing – German-ish Pilsner
This is a mostly German pilsner. I call it mostly German, or German-ish, because of the use of American Cascade hops for bittering. Since I have so many in storage I figured why spend the money when it’s just a bittering hop? Well, throwing caution to the wind I went with it and am pleased to say that this beer turned out excellent! It’s bright, crisp, and crushable. Even had some troubles during the lager phase when I dropped the temperature too quickly and sucked in a BUNCH of Starsan into the beer. Was shocking to see the layer of cloudy Starsan floating on top of the beer when I went to keg it. Because of the mistake I didn’t get quite the full 5 gallons but was able to transfer from under the layer and ended up with exactly what I hoped for!
